Food and Recipes
This is the place for all things food and recipes! I will do my best to post healthy and most likely Paleo-friendly recipes but there may be an occasional chocolate post in there. We can’t be perfect 100% of the time!
If you are like me and don’t like keeping track of how much you’ve eaten or counting calories, the Paleo diet is for you. The Paleo diet is what most CrossFitters use in conjunction with their workouts. It gives them the best results and it’s the healthiest (in most people’s opinions).
I know you’re probably thinking, “oh great, another diet” but this is nothing like the typical diet. It focuses on meat, vegetables, and seasonal fruits. That’s it! We’ve become accustomed to eating countless grains and sugars that we lose sight of what is actually healthy. So all you have to do is cut out grains, sugar, and processed foods. Sounds easy enough, right?
This may seem like a big step, and it is, but you are not alone. There are so many people out there that are living this lifestyle and have the results to prove it. You just have to put in the effort and it will pay off. I like to say to myself before starting something new, “if I can do this for 21 days, I can do it forever”. 21 days is all you need to get into a habit and this is probably one of the best habits you can get into!
To make this easier, here is a list of what you can eat:
- Meat – grass-fed only
- Oils – Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil
- Tubers – Sweet potatoes and yams.
You are not being forced to eat the Paleo diet, but you should consider it! I know it’s hard to give up the sweets and all that, but in the long run, it is better for you! Don’t worry, you can still have your occasional sweet as it won’t kill you. Just don’t go overboard on it.
